How do you sip Barbados rum?
Sip it neat or on the rocks and take your time. A review of sipping rums says of Mount Gay XO: this is a rum you want to sip on and savor slowly. A tulip-shaped or snifter-style glass is a good choice because it gathers the aroma; this is general advice, not a rule.
Should you add water or ice?
A few drops of water can soften a strong or cask-strength rum and bring out fruit and sugar-cane notes. A single cube of ice is fine if you prefer it cold, but ice mutes aroma and dilutes quickly. Start neat, then adjust.
