Which Malbec producers are widely sold?
This is not a ranking. Argentine names that appear often in shops and wine press include Trapiche, Catena Zapata, Alamos, Norton and Zuccardi. Availability depends on your country, and many smaller producers sell only a few bottles abroad. In France, look for Malbec from Cahors.
Where does Malbec come from?
Southwest France, where it is also called Cot or Auxerrois. Wine Folly says French botanist Michel Pouget planted it in Mendoza, Argentina, in 1868, and it is now Argentina’s most important grape. Top areas include the Uco Valley and Lujan de Cuyo in Mendoza.
What does Malbec taste like?
